Radloff Middle School Since it began in the fall of 2004, Radloff Middle School has been a "lighthouse" school. Our very first principal, Dr. Patty Heitmuller, had the vision that Radloff was like a lighthouse, leading and lighting the way towards the best practices in educating students. As Dr. Heitmuller always said "Radloff Middle is the home of the best and brightest students and faculty in Gwinnett County".
Our motto is "Readiness, Respect, and Responsibility". These three tenants help keep our students on their toes each and every day, ready for the challenges that the teachers at Radloff present to students each class; being respectful towards all; and helping students learn individual responsibility for their learning and behavior. |

Dr. Sarah Skinner
Assistant Principal: Curriculum & Instruction
I was born and raised in Dublin, GA, and came to the Atlanta area to attend college at Emory University. I graduated from Emory in 1992, with my BA in English, where I also completed an additional major in Piano Performance. I returned to Emory to complete my MAT in Secondary English Education in 1994. After finishing a portion of my student teaching at Pinckneyville Middle School in Gwinnett County Public Schools, I knew I wanted to teach in Gwinnett, and started my teaching career at Norcross High School in 1994, split between the Language Arts and Fine Arts departments. I have remained in Gwinnett County for the 18 years of my career, working at a variety of schools over that time (Norcross HS, Collins Hill HS, Peachtree Ridge HS, and Pinckneyville MS). In 2007, I did complete my Ph.D. in Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia. I joined the Meadowcreek family in the summer of 2012. Although I've been an educational leader for a while now, I remain a student at heart. Learning, for me, is the greatest gift and opportunity we have. I believe that education is the foundation upon which all dreams can be built and each person can find lifelong success and happiness; with our public education system, each student has the opportunity to gain the skills necessary for full and successful participation in our rich 21st century global community. In my time as an educator, I have had myriad opportunities to engage with students, teachers, and parents in many conversations about literacy and learning, and one book--Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird--has provided me much insight into people, teaching, learning, and life. In some ways, I find it applicable to almost every situation, and I find it filled with bits of wisdom that I try to embrace and live by. One particularly favorite quotation is when Atticus Finch says, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it”

Dr. Patty Heitmuller Principal of Radloff Middle from opening in 2004 until 2010
Dr. Heitmuller opened Radloff Middle School in the fall of 2004. She spent her years before Radloff as an elementary school principal. It was Dr. Heitmuller's vision that Radloff Middle was a "Lighthouse School" - a school that lead the way to best practices in student learning.
