Gum Drop Domes: Civil Engineering with our guest Engineers
The Dail & Price team was fortunate to have two civil engineers visit our classroom on Feb. 20. Rebecca Shelton and Steve Seachrist from Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources were able to share with us what civil engineers actually do and lead us in two activities. Each team of future engineers was given 36 gumdrops and 50 toothpicks and challenged to create up to three structures that could withstand the weight of our Life Science textbooks. We also created collages for the statewide "What do Civil Engineers do?" contest. After letting the structures harden overnight, we put them to the test. Check out the results below!
